Small Spaces: Collaborative Character Wall

fuel coffee shop mural

on sunday and monday, mitch schuring and i spent the afternoon/early evening working on a collab production behind Fuel Coffee shop. we'd been discussing what we should do for a collab for a couple of weeks, and decided we should just do a combined character wall.  we both often make up characters, mitch's are more surreal images based in cartoons and animation, and mine are typically wacky versions of humans and animals: two totally different ideas of characters.

we didn't know if the two different aesthetics would fit together or not.  after we got started, and got a few things up on the wall we realized that the contrast between the two styles were conversing nicely.

we filled in the rest of the space, climbing up and down the ladder and trying to avoid the power lines to fill as much of the space as we could.  then we finished it off by adding in one of my pattern stencils subtly into the background.  this was a fun piece, and i'm glad i finally got to collab with mitch.  watch out for another piece soon.
