Mugs for Jugs

It's finally October! Unless you've been living under a rock, you already know that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I have friends and family who are breast cancer survivors, whose lives are no doubt indebted to the medical advancements in the field of cancer research. But I have also lost a dear friend to breast cancer, whose life reminds me that there is still an urgent need for ongoing inquiry and exploration. Of course, I realize that there are many ways to support breast cancer research throughout the year. But if, like me, you're tired of licking pink Yoplait lids (so General Mills can donate 10-cents/piece to the Susan G. Komen Foundation) and you are looking to do something different this October, Mugs for Jugs might just be the thing for you!

MudFire is hosting its second annual Mugs for Jugs sale and charity fundraiser for fighting breast cancer. There are over 70 artists participating in the event, so you are very likely to see something you like. You'd also be happy to know that MudFire is very responsible with the money they raise. They have carefully chosen a suitable organization (the Breast Cancer Research Foundation) and are matching the contribution of the artists. More details of the show can be found on their website here.

Zach and I support breast cancer research, we like MudFire, and we admire Gay Smith's work.  A trifecta! So we picked out this mug. I am smiling because we'll soon have a Smith original in our house!
